The emergence of invasive species in Europe, including the Asian tiger mosquito, poses a serious challenge not only from a public health perspective but also from an ecological standpoint. While their role in transmitting pathogens is well known, their ecological impacts on native mosquito species are less understood. Researchers at the HUN-REN Centre for Ecological Research have now examined how the tiger mosquito coexists with members of the native mosquito fauna in Hungary.
